Family-Owned Glendale Company Launches 8th Annual Military Hero A/C Giveaway

Forrest Anderson Plumbing and A/C Encourages Community to Nominate Valley Veterans and Service members

GLENDALE, Ariz. (August 14, 2023) – For the eighth consecutive year, Forrest Anderson Plumbing and Air Conditioning (Forrest Anderson), a Glendale based, family-owned business serving the greater Phoenix metro area since 1961, will honor men and women who bravely served or are currently serving in the U.S. military. Forrest Anderson’s 2023 Military Hero A/C Giveaway will share the stories of local Maricopa County military heroes and award one Veteran or active duty servicemember with a free air conditioning system with installation. 

 

“The Military Hero Giveaway is an incredible program,” said Olga Tucker, a U.S. Army veteran and winner of the 2021 Military Hero Giveaway. “This summer has been the most comfortable one we’ve had in our home and our electric bill actually went down. The system has been amazing. We are so grateful for Forrest Anderson Plumbing and A/C!”

 

Anyone can nominate a military hero by filling out a short application on Forrest Anderson’s website from Friday, September 1st, 2023, at 12:01 a.m. MST to Friday, September 29, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. MST.  A company panel will select up to five finalists and share their stories on Forrest Anderson’s website and Facebook Page, where members of the public can vote for their favorite from Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at 12:01 am MST to Tuesday, October 31st, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. MST. The giveaway is open to active-duty military, retired service members, and Veterans who were discharged under general or honorable conditions, who own a home in Maricopa County.

 

“My grandfather served in World War II before he started this company and this is a special way to honor his legacy and recognize the sacrifices Veterans have made for our communities,” said Audrey Monell, President of Forrest Anderson. “This is our seventh year running the Military Hero Giveaway and it is still one of my favorite events of the year. It is so encouraging to see our communities rally behind the men and women who serve our country and remind them how appreciated they are.”

NOMINEES CAN INCLUDE

• Veterans (discharged under general or honorable conditions)

• Active Duty Military (any branch)

• National Guard, Reserves, or their direct families. 

 

The deadline to submit a nomination is September 29, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. MST. Finalists (selected by Forrest Anderson) will be announced via their Facebook page Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at 12:01 am MST. The public will then immediately be encouraged to vote for the winner through the Forrest Anderson website until Tuesday, October 31st, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. MST. The winner will be announced by Veterans Day, which is November 11th.

Note: Nominees must be willing to participate in any media interviews or publicity activities associated with the contest and have accepted the terms of the contest as stated in the Official Rules. Finalists may be asked to provide proof of military service.

OFFICIAL RULES

 

The Forrest Anderson “Military Hero A/C Giveaway” promotion (“Contest”) is sponsored by Forrest Anderson Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning Inc. (Forrest Anderson) (“Company”). This contest is governed by these official rules (“Official Rules”). By participating in the promotion, each entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements and understands that the results of the Contest, as determined by Forrest Anderson and its agents, are final in all respects. The Contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Meta Platforms Inc. (Meta), or any of the company’s Family of Apps. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the promotion will be directed to Forrest Anderson, not Facebook or Meta.

ELIGIBILITY

 

The Contest is open to legal residents of the United States where not prohibited by law, who are eighteen (18) years of age or older and are Veterans (discharged under general or honorable conditions), Active Duty Military (any branch), National Guard, Reserves, or military family members residing within Maricopa County, Arizona. They must be permanently residing in a valid home address in Maricopa County, Arizona, as well as have internet access and a valid e-mail account prior to the beginning of the Contest Period. Forrest Anderson has the right to verify the eligibility of each entrant, including requesting verification of military service or affiliation, as well as visiting the nominee’s residence for a consultation regarding the unit installation. Forrest Anderson employees and their immediate families are not eligible to enter or win. Odds of winning are based on the number of entries.

CONTEST PERIOD

 

The Contest begins Friday, September 1, 2023, at 12:01 a.m. MST and ends on Veterans Day, November 11, 2023.

HOW TO NOMINATE

​

Visit the Forrest Anderson website and follow the instructions to submit a nomination that describes why the nominee should receive a free air conditioning unit, as well as a photo of the nominee. The submission period is open from Friday, September 1st, 2023, at 12:01 a.m. MST to Friday, September 29, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. MST. All entries (submissions) must be received on or before the time stated during the Submission Period, and submitted according to the criteria on the nomination form. After submitting the required information, the entrant will receive one (1) entry into the Contest. Only one (1) entry per nominee will be permitted for the duration of the contest. Up to five (5) Arizona finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges at their discretion based on the answers provided in the nomination form.

VOTING PERIOD

​

Finalist photos and a short description will be posted on Forrest Anderson’s website and open to public voting from Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at 12:01 am MST to Tuesday, October 31st, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. MST. Public voting participants are limited to one (1) vote per day for the duration of the voting period.  The winner will be selected based on the highest number of votes received during the public voting period. There will be one (1) Grand Prize winner from Maricopa County, Arizona, and winners will be announced on the Forrest Anderson Facebook page on or before Saturday, November 11th, 2023. Forrest Anderson reserves the right to extend, shorten, or terminate the Contest at their sole discretion. Forrest Anderson also reserves the right to forgo the popular vote and select a winner at the Company’s discretion.

WINNER SELECTION & PRIZES

​

For the Forrest Anderson “Military Hero A/C Giveaway” promotion, Forrest Anderson will award one (1) Grand Prize to one (1) winner in Maricopa County, Arizona. The air conditioning unit will be installed according to the availability of the winner and Forrest Anderson after the conclusion of the contest any time after November 11, 2023.

Participants do not need to be present to win, and the winner will be contacted in person, via Facebook, phone or email. In the event the winner cannot be reached and/or does not respond within a 72-hour period of time from the time of initial outreach, they forfeit the grant to the finalist who received the next highest number of votes during the Voting Period. This selection process will continue until a winner claims the grand prize. In the event that no winners claim the grand prize, the grand prize will be donated to a nonprofit of Forrest Anderson’s choice.  In addition to the AC unit our marketing agency of record - Razor Thin Media has offered to give a $500 cash gift to the winner of this giveaway as a token of respect for their service.

Incidental expenses and all other costs and expenses which are not specifically listed as part of a prize in these Official Rules and which may be associated with the award, acceptance, receipt and use of all or any portion of the awarded prize are solely the responsibility of the respective prize winner. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF ANY PRIZE IS SOLELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.

 

ADDITIONAL LIMITATIONS

Prize is non-transferable. No substitution or cash equivalent of prizes is permitted. Maintenance, repairs or installation of duct work, or anything else that’s not part of the initial installation is not included and subject to an additional fee. Additional expenses include, but are not limited to, repairs needed on the home’s gas/electrical system to update it to current requirements as listed by the state and federal government, expenses to replace eroded connection systems, damage occurred to poorly maintained connecting systems, expenses to repair damaged walls.

INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

​

By entering the Contest, each entrant agrees to indemnify, release and hold harmless Forrest Anderson, the Facebook platform, administrator, advertising and promotional agencies, and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents from any liability, damages, losses or injury resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from that entrant’s participation in the Contest and the acceptance, use or misuse of any prize that may be won. Forrest Anderson disclaims any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from access to or the download of information or materials connected with the Contest.

TAXES

​

Subject to IRS and other tax reporting. Each winner is solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes related to the prize(s) and paying any expenses associated with any prize which are not specifically provided for in the official rules. Each winner must provide the Company with valid identification and a valid taxpayer identification number or social security number, in the manner provided by the Company, before any prize will be awarded. Any person winning over $600 in prizes from the Company will receive an IRS Form 1099 after the end of the calendar year and a copy of such form will be filed with the IRS.

PUBLICITY

​

By participating, each entrant grants Forrest Anderson permission to use his/her name, likeness, business name or comments for publicity purposes without payment of additional consideration, except where prohibited by law.
